The Homestake Opera House and Lead Area Chamber of Commerce are seeking a dynamic, organized, and customer-focused Events & Community Engagement Coordinator to support the operations, events, marketing efforts, and visitor services of both organizations.
This full-time position is shared between the Homestake Opera House and Lead Area Chamber of Commerce and serves as a vital connection between the organizations, the community, and visitors to the area. As one of the first points of contact within the building, this individual will welcome guests, answer questions, provide visitor information, and help direct people to the appropriate offices, events, services, and resources. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and enjoys working with a wide variety of people in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Visitor Services & Customer Relations
- Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, patrons, members, volunteers, and community partners.
- Assist visitors by answering questions about local attractions, events, businesses, and community resources.
- Help direct guests to the appropriate offices, meetings, events, and services within the building.
- Promote a positive and welcoming experience for residents and visitors alike.
- Maintain positive relationships with businesses, members, sponsors, and stakeholders.
Event Coordination & Volunteer Management
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of events for both organizations.
- Recruit, schedule, and manage event volunteers.
- Coordinate event logistics, vendor communication, and event-day operations.
- Support ticketing, registration, and attendee services.
- Assist with setup, teardown, and on-site event management.
Marketing, Communications & Social Media
- Create and schedule social media content promoting events, programs, businesses, and community initiatives.
- Assist with marketing campaigns, advertising, and promotional efforts.
- Update and maintain website content for both organizations.
- Help create newsletters, press releases, flyers, and other promotional materials.
- Monitor social media platforms and respond to inquiries as appropriate.
Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate databases, membership records, ticketing information, and contacts.
- Perform data entry and record management.
- Assist with invoicing, collections, and financial recordkeeping as assigned.
- Ensure information across websites, directories, and organizational platforms remains accurate and up to date.
- Provide general office support and administrative assistance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation and a welcoming personality.
- Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail.
- Experience with social media platforms and website management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office technology.
- Experience with event planning, tourism, customer service, marketing, nonprofit organizations, or hospitality is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Work Schedule & Compensation
This is a full-time, salaried position shared between Homestake Opera House and the Lead Area Chamber of Commerce, offering flexible scheduling to meet the needs of both organizations and their events. While standard office hours will make up a portion of the workweek, the successful candidate should be prepared to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Because this role supports community events, visitor services, meetings, and special programs, work hours will vary throughout the year. The position is designed to provide flexibility in balancing work responsibilities while ensuring a strong presence during key events and activities. Candidates should be comfortable adjusting their schedules as needed to support the mission and goals of the organization.
