Job Description
The chief duties of the TUMC custodian is to maintain cleanliness of the church and the
CMC, and perform any other duties as assigned. Hours will vary, but average 12 hours
per week. The custodian has flexibility in scheduling their work but needs to be based
on the church calendar. Weddings & Funerals and special events may require additional
cleaning. Consistent and courteous communication with the office staff and pastor is a
necessity. Attending a monthly staff meeting on Wednesday during office hours is also
expected.
Salary is dependent on experience. A probationary period of 3 months will be followed
by a job performance review by the pastor. If the review is favorable, the employee will
accrue one hour of paid vacation for every 26 hours worked.
Applicant must be able to lift 20 lbs. and climb stairs. No experience necessary as
training will be provided. Duties include, but are not limited to: dusting, vacuuming,
sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning windows that can be reached from
the floor, emptying garbage, replenishing supplies and occasionally waxing floors and
shampooing carpets. If the custodian needs to be absent from work, they must contact
the Pastor as soon as possible so other arrangements can be made.
