Job Description
Thyssen Mining is a full-service underground mining contractor with several projects currently underway in Canada and the USA.  Thyssen currently has a vacancy for a Safety Clerk at a project near Lead, SD.
 
Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Safety Clerk will provide administrative support to the safety department through the completion of data collection and reporting alongside clerical tasks in a timely manner. The successful candidate will assist in administrating, implementing, and maintaining Health & Safety Management Systems. This position is expected to work an 8-hour shift on a 5:2 schedule.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Previous experience working in an office environment.
  • Able to use a variety of computer software, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Display analytical and decision-making skills
  • Results and action oriented
  • Strong communication skills; ability to interact productively with supervisors, peers, and subordinates
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of displaying and promoting a “safety first culture” of Zero Harm
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Sound judgement skills, including ability to prioritize workload.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relations.
  • Self-motivated and team oriented.
